When does the Draft House become the Drape Wall? After it becomes the Pore House. For the 2003 HOME House Project: The Future of Affordable Housing (HHP) competition, slvDESIGN a design team that includes Marc Swackhamer, now of the University of Minnesota's College of Architecture and Landscape Architecture (CALA), proposed Draft House, which then evolved technically into the Pore House (as in porous) and now into the Drape Wall. Constructed as a full-scale section, Drape Wall was one of 80 designs from the HHP on view (from January to April) at the Weisman Art Museum at the University of Minnesota in Minneapolis. The lofty, long-term goal of HHP was "to establish new standards of design, energy efficiency environmental consciousness, and cost effectiveness that will constitute a new model for affordable housing in the United States," explains David Brown, HHP director.
