All the news media these days are talking about global warming. With Al Gore's 2006 hit film, An Inconvenient Truth, and his subsequent awarding of the Nobel Peace Prize last year (shared with the UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change) for his work in bringing the issue of global warming to serious popular attention, the topic -and all related environmental issues such as carbon footprint. sustainability in design, green building materials and the urban heat island effect - cannot be ignored, and indeed, are being discussed in a wide number of economic and social arenas.
