摘要

In a letter addressed to European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso on 15 January, BusinessEurope states that the energy-climate proposals as they exist in draft versions do not sufficiently address the question of business competitiveness, particularly for those firms most exposed to international competition.rnFor BusinessEurope, in the absence of an international agreement that would place companies in all the developed countries on an equal footing, thernprinciple of a general auctioning of emissions allowances would represent an unacceptable burden for European companies, especially because they are already hit hard by rising energy costs.
