Commission claims victory in Norway salmon dispute

The EU claimed victory at the World Trade Organisation in its dispute with Norway over salmon imports, on 15 January in Geneva. The European Commission stated that the panel report adopted by the WTO Dispute Settlement Body on Norway's complaint against the EU's anti-dumping measures on salmon vindicated its position. Although the report condemned the EU on several technical issues, it did not call into question the legality of the EU's trade defence measures adopted against import of farmed Norwegian salmons, argued the Commission. "It should hopefully mark the end of this dispute. The EU will proceed to implement the relevant technical parts of the panel report and will inform the WTO accordingly.
