Council adopts deal on tyre labels

Ahead of a plenary vote in the European Parliament, the Council formally adopted, on 20 November, its common position on the regulation on the labelling of tyres for fuel efficiency. The EU law will complement the type-approval legislation for cars setting minimum requirements for rolling resistance, wet grip and external rolling noise. These minimum requirements should, following Parliament's vote on 25 November, take effect by 1 November 2012.
