Euratom/Canada atomic energy accord extended

The Council of Ministers adopted, on 27 July, the directives required to renegotiate a cooperation agreement between Euratom (the European Atomic Energy Community) and Canada on the peaceful use of atomic energy. Canada and the then six members of Euratom (Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg and the Netherlands) first signed an agreement in 1959, although it has been amended by an exchange of letters between Brussels and Ottawa several times since.
