EU disappointed by tuna commission's lack of agreement

The European Commission is "disappointed" by the inability of the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission (IOTC) to progress on resource protection and management.rnMeeting in Bali, from 30 March to 3 April, the IOTC foiled to build consensus on certain elements the EU considers essential.rnThe Union presented detailed proposals at the meeting for measures to maintain stocks of migratory species, as well as conservation and resource management rnmeasures for vessels using purse seines to catch bigeye tuna, yellowfin tuna and skipjack tuna, and for longliners catching tuna and swordfish.
