Some 60 representatives of professional organisations from the fisheries sector - Europeche, Cogeca and EAFPO (European Association of Fish Producers' Organisations) - will meet in Rome, from 9 to 11 March, to debate the crisis and the future of the fisheries sector. The European Commission's DG Mare will be represented by Director-General Fokion Fotiadis and Policy Coordination Director Cesar Deben. The talks will focus on: 1. The crisis in the sector and on fishery products markets, access to financing and problems implementing EU restructuring regulations; 2. The proposal for strengthening controls and inspections and its coherence with other components of the CFP, operators' role in the new system, the administrative burden and the complexity of measures and of implementation; and 3.rnThe 2012 CFP reform, measuring capacity, rights-based management, the quota system and the external dimension.
