The European Biodiesel Board (EBB), bringing together major biofuels producers in the EU, welcomed the publication by the European Commission, on 12 March, of a regulation applying countervailing and anti-dumping duties, ranging from €211 to €237 per tonne, against allegedly unfairly traded US B99 biodiesel. This follows a complaint lodged by the EBB, in April 2008. In June 2008, the Commission launched a formal investigation. The EBB claims that US biodiesel has been sold on the European market at a substantial dis-rncount for the past two years. This has even occurred at a lower price than the vegetable oil raw materials purchased by the EU industry for producing biodiesel.
