Commission reallocates 114 mn euro for renewables and efficiency

The European Commission is proposing to include energy efficiency and renewables in a proposal amending the programme to aid economic recovery by granting Community financial assistance - to the tune of €114 million in uncommitted funds - to projects in the field of energy (Regulation 663/2009). The proposal would allow for the use of uncommitted funds by creating a dedicated financial instrument to support the development of "energy efficiency and renewable energy projects in particular in urban settings". The amending regulation would need to enter into force before the end of the year, notes the Commission.
