摘要

Three days ahead of the 2010 World Blood Donor Day, the European Commission published, on 11 June, a Eurobarom-eter poll on blood and organ donation. The report shows a 6% increase in blood donation since 2002, when the last survey was conducted, putting the percentage of Europeans who donate at 37%. However, the findings also show that the last eight years have had no impact on Europeans' willingness to donate organs. Currently, 55% of Europeans are willing to donate one of their organs after death (a decrease of 1%), andrn27% are opposed to the idea (an increase of 1%). This, the report finds, is cause for concern, as demand for organs is rapidly rising. The results do differ across member states, with Western and Northern countries tending to have more favourable results for organ donation, while Eastern ones do not.
