Expert group suggests improvements to FP7

It is vital to avoid fragmentation of research in the EU and to develop qual ity research infrastructures. These are two of an expert group's main recom mendations for improving the Union's Seventh R&D Framework Programme (FP7). The interim evaluation of the programme was conducted by a group of independent experts chaired by Rolf Annerberg, director-general of the Swedish Research Council for Environ ment, Agricultural Research and Spatial Planning (FORMAS), and presented to Research Commissioner Maire Geoghe gan-Quinn, on 18 November. The Euro pean Commission will respond in the coming weeks, after analysing the report in detail.
