Study: Member states must triple efforts to meet 2050 target

If they hope to reach the goal of estab lishing a low-carbon economy by 2050 (through an 80-95% reduction in green house gas emissions from 1990 levels), EU member states must intensify their efforts by a factor of three. The 'Climate policy tracker for the European Union', published on 23 November, rates the 27 member states on their implementa tion of energy and climate policies and highlights the different national levels of ambition and best practice in emis sions reduction. The report concludes that member states must adapt all their policies to correct the weaknesses identified.
