Belgians want 'more not less Europe'

The Belgian EU Presidency has put together an ambitious programme aimed at strengthening Europe's role in research. The Belgians further aim at pushing forward the contribution of research to achieving the goals set by the 'Europe 2020' strategy. The European Research Area (ERA) must also be improved. Other important elements include pushing forward discussion on the simplification of European research schemes, continuing progress on the Strategic Energy Technology (SET) plan and finding a solution to ITER (International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor) financing.
