Council adopts decision on international renewables agency

The Council adopted, on 24 June, a decision on the conclusion, by the European Union, of the statute of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the exercise of EU rights and obligations. With both the EU and its member states having competences in the areas covered by IRE-NA's statute, the EU declares the extent of its competence. The EU will also pay an annual contribution to IRENA under the Intelligent Energy-Europe (IEE) programme.
