Marco Polo 2011:67.5 mn euro of co-financing foreseen

In 2011, the Marco Polo programme is set to receive approximately €67.5 million from the European Commission. Marco Polo's aim is to promote a more sustainable transport system in the EU. According to officials, this budget will allow the programme to finance around 36 projects whose aim is to shift the balance between transport modes and lean towards other less polluting modes. The call for proposals, however, is only scheduled for the second semester. Formal proposals cannot be submitted until then, but in the meantime companies can start preparing proposals - a Marco Polo help desk is at hand to assist companies'. The Marco Polo information day, allowing companies to meet programme leaders and better prepare their proposals, will take place this year on 12 September in Brussels.
