MEPs praise Reykjavik for judiciary and financial sector reforms

The European Parliament has commended Iceland for progress achieved in the area of the judiciary and the financial sector. A report, drafted by MEP Cristian Dan Preda (EPP, Romania) and adopted by the plenary on 7 April in Strasbourg, reveals an overall positive trend in Iceland's progress towards EU membership. However, it identifies two areas - fisheries and agriculture -where additional efforts are needed to align the country's legislative and administrative structures with the EU acquis.
