Space Policy: MEPs remain opposed to intergovernmental GMES

Members of the European Parliament do not want to see the GMES earth observation programme (Global Moni toring for Environment and Security) financed outside the EU framework in the future and thereby transformed into an intergovernmental programme. The plenary adopted a resolution, on 16 Feb ruary, that asks the European Commis sion to put the programme back into the multiannual financial framework and to present without delay a legislative pro posal on its governance, financing and long-term functioning.
