Sustainable Development: Potocnik: EU 'well on the road to Rio+20'

Four months ahead of the United Nations Rio+20 sustainable develop ment conference (Rio de Janeiro, 20-22 June), environment ministers from across the planet are gathered in Nairobi, Kenya, from 20 to 22 Feb ruary, for a United Nations Envi ronment Programme (UNEP) ministerial forum focused largely on preparing the Rio conference. Environment Commissioner Janez Potocnik will present the EU's objectives: adoption of a road map to a 'green' economy; definition of a new architecture for global environmental governance; and involvement of all players - politi cal, economic (industry) and civil society - in the process, the only wav to ensure concrete results.
