White paper: MEPs' ambitions for 2020

The European Parliament's plenary confirmed, on 15 December in Strasbourg, the emissions reductions objectives its members wish to see assigned to the transport sector. Compared with 1990 levels, they seek the following results by 2020: 1. 20% reduction in CO_2 emissions from road traffic 2. 20% reduction in noise and energy consumption from rail traffic 3. 30% reduction in CO_2 emissions from air traffic 4. 30% reduction in emissions of CO_2 and polluting substances from the maritime sector.
