Fisheries: Baltic region applies discard ban

The Baltic Sea states will be the first to apply the discard ban introduced by the revised Common Fisheries Policy (CFP), set to enter into force in 2015. The fisheries directors of these countries, meeting on 30 April in Riga, Latvia, adopted a proposal to reduce the minimum size of cod that can be landed and sold for human consumption.
