Revitalized GLONASS Constellation Status in mid 2010

GLONASS, as the Russian counterpart of GPS had shown potential of worldwide use, but a full GLONASS constellation was short-lived. By the end of 2001, the system was unusable due to poor satellite availability. GLONASS modernization plan was taken up in late 2001 and activities started to revitalize the system. In this brief paper, GLONASS modernization activities and the current GLONASS constellation status for reuse will be discussed.
