摘要

As many readers will be aware, this autumn I will officially retire from my post at the London School of Economics. Retirement will be more formal than real, and in particular I will continue to edit the European Journal of Industrial Relations. Retired academics often tend to work more rather than less than they did before, but without a normal salary and with the compensation of greater choice over their patterns of activity.
