摘要

John Willinsky is professor of education at Stanford University and the director of the Public Knowledge Project, and was an early advocate of Open Access. In this scholarly, deeply researched history of the learned book, he attempts to demonstrate the long history of scholars wishing to allow their writings to be distributed widely, as long as their own contribution was recognised.
