摘要

The nonlinear seismic behavior of concrete gravity dams is investigated considering the effect of dam-reservoir-foundation interaction. An anisotropic damage mechanics approach based on a nonlinear fracture mechanics crack propagation criterion is used to study the seismic response of concrete gravity dams. The dam-reservoir dynamic interaction in the time domain analysis is included using the staggered displacement solution method. Effects of massed foundation and its far-end energy absorption compared with rigid and massless foundation. The Pine Flat dam is chosen as a case study to examine the capability of the proposed model. The obtained results reveal that considering mass of the foundation decreases cracking profiles significantly.
