Green Package formally adopted

On 6 April, the Council for Justice and Internal Affairs has proceeded to formal adoption of the so-called Green Package including notably a Directive on Emissions Trading (period 2013-2020), a Directive on the promotion of renewable energy sources, a decision on effort sharing for the sectors not covered by the emissions trading scheme (ETS) and a Directive on the geological storage of CO_2 (CCS).rnHowever, a number of implementation rules still need to be elaborated and adopted during 2009 and 2010 before Member States can transpose the Directives.
