摘要

Building energy efficiency improvements and implementation of renewable power generation in the power systems are important for reaching European energy goals. Energy system optimisation modelling has been used to study the environmental impact of changes in heat demand and electricity price level fluctuations from heat and electricity production in Swedish district heating (DH) systems. The results indicate that a significantly reduced heat demand does not increase global CO_2 emissions, but increases the share of combined heat and power (CHP) operation. The results also show that low electricity prices and a large introduction of intermittent wind and solar power generation induce the use of electricity for DH production and hamper the operation of CHP plants.
