Challenges and Opportunities for Thermal Urban Networks

摘要

To achieve ambitious climate mitigation and energy supply security targets, cities will need to substantially increase their energy efficiency and integrate an increasing fraction of renewables in their energy balances. Within a Smart City, a holistic approach is applied to achieve these targets. After a brief introduction of the properties of Smart Cities, the implications for thermal urban networks are presented and the challenges and opportunities to enable the transition towards a future-proof energy system are discussed.
