Die Graphitwerk Kropfmühl AG betreibt Bergbau, Aufbereitung und Veredelung auf makrokristallinen Naturgraphit im südlichen Bayerischen Wald. Seit mehr als 30 Jahren betreibt die Graphitwerk Kropfmühl AG, zusammen mit einem örtlichen Parther das Graphitbergwerk Lynx Mine in Simbabwe. Bergbau und Aufbereitung wurden nach Kropfmühler Vorbild schrittweise aufgebaut und entwickelt. Der Bergbau begann zunächst im Tagebau und wurde nach einigen Jahren auf Tiefbau umgestellt (Teilsohlenweitungsbau). Die Vorzerkleinerung, Flotations- und Absiebanlage wurde zunächst für eine Kapazität von 4001 Konzentrat pro Monat aufgebaut und über viele Jahre auf die heutige Kapazität von l 400 t Konzentrat pro Monat erweitert. Anfängliche Probleme mit der Wasserversorgung (Trinkwasser und Prozeßwasser) konnten endgültig erst im Jahre 1989 durch das Anlegen eines 3 Mio. m~3 Wasser fassenden Stausees gelöst werden. Während des Bürgerkrieges in Simbabwe in den 70er Jahren hatte die Grube turbulente Jahre zu überstehen. Heute stellt sie für die Graphitwerk Kropfmühl AG eine sichere und verläßliche Rohstoffquelle dar, die auf hohem Qualitätsstandard produziert.%Graphitwerk Kropfmuehl AG mines, processes and refines macrocrystalline natural graphite in the southern part of the Bavarian Forest in Germany. For more than 30 years Graphitwerk Kropfmuehl AG has operated the Lynx graphite mine in Zimbabwe together with a local partner. Mining and processing were established step by step following the Kropfmuehl model. Extraction started first as openpit mining and was changed after several years to underground mining. The crushing, flotation and screening plant was first built for a capacity of 400 t of graphite concentrate per month and was than developed over several years to the present capacity of 1.400 t per month. In the beginning, problems with the water supply occured which were overcome with the construction of a dam in 1989 with a capacity of 3 million m~3 of water. During the civil war in Zimbabwe in the 70's, the mine had to come through some turbulent years. Today the Lynx Mine in Zimbabwe is a safe and reliable source of high quality raw materials for Graphitwerk Kropfmuehl AG.
