A number of conversion and refining processes are applied in refineries. Most of them are catalytic processes. A rela- Tively small number of catalyst types are Used, but the consumed quantity is consider- Able due to the high throughput. So catalysts For refining processes represent a consider- Able part of industrial catalysts with regard To their quantity and to their economical Value. The annual consumption of catalysts is esti- Mated to be about 12,000 t/a (excepting min- Eral acid catalysts), including zeolithes with 8,500 t/a at the first place.
