SCADA and Telecom System for Oman Gas Company

Pipelines are the arteries of our society. Huge quantities of crude oil, oil products, gas and water are transported day by day through these systems. Compared to other technical processes like chemical plants or refineries, the technical process of pipeline operation looks simple at first glance. A more detailed analysis, however, reveals some conflicting constraints in pipeline operation like delivery schedules, energy costs, pipe lifetime and quality control rules. It shows that pipeline control and management is a multi-loop process that requires the gathering and processing of information from the process itself, as well as from shippers, various authorities, the environment, owners and even from the society at large. This information must be combined with a strategy optimised for the pipeline company.
