Comment on 'Concentrations of Brominated Flame Retardants in Indoor Air and Dust from Ireland Reveal Elevated Exposure to Decabromodiphenyl Ethane'

We read with interest the report by Wemken et al. regarding sample collection and analysis of dust and indoor air samples for several flame retardants collected from Irish homes, cars, offices, and primary schools during 2016- 2017. The authors reported the widest range of decabromodiphenyl ethane (DBDPE) in both dust and air microenviron-ments ever published with levels upward of 460 000 ng/g DBDPE in dust in Ireland. These dust values, as well air values, are 10 to 100-fold higher than amounts reported elsewhere. Using the 95th percentile concentrations of their data, the worst case exposure estimate was markedly higher than previously published.
