Pacific Northwest Efficient-Energy initiatives

With recent rises in the price of natural gas and electricity, energy consumers (whether residential, commercial, or industrial) are looking to reduce their energy use. Many programs throughout the United States encourage use of energy-efficient technologies and renewable energy. These programs include the industrial assessment centers located around the country. This column highlights energy-efficiency activities in the Pacific Northwest region, particularly some recommendations commonly made by the Oregon State University Industrial Assessment Center (OSU IAC). Also briefly covered are initiatives sponsored by the Energy Trust of Oregon, the Bonneville Power Administration, and the Northwest Energy Efficiency Alliance.
