Ensuring Sustainable Water Supplies: A Study Of Groundwater Conditions In Salboni Block, West Bengal

Salboni Block of West Medinipur district, West Bengal, is experiencing growing pressure from water shortages during dry periods. Our socioeco-nomic survey reveals that declining groundwater levels and the drying up of shallow wells during dry months are two major groundwater issues in the study area. Agriculture in Salboni Block is badly hampered by inadequate and unreliable water supplies. This in turn adversely affects economic conditions in the area.
