Mapping of Air Emissions: A Case Study for Mauritius

The locations of the power plants are a determining factor in the concentration of pollutants present in different areas of Mauritius. Some of the emissions are dispersed through vegetation, where a portion of the CO_2 is absorbed. With this information, the carbon budget of the country's immediate atmosphere can be easily built. While computing the carbon budget, the values fluctuated from one year to the other. This may be due to various factors other than fossil fuel combustion. These other factors include electricity demand and climatic factors affecting carbon uptakes by vegetation.
