摘要

First of all, we would like to thank Dr. Frariska for her valuable comments to our research paper (Ghauch et al., 2009). The later was mainly focused on the elimination of antibiotics (Amoxicillin, AMX and Ampicillin, AMP) in water by zero valent iron. The reported removal mechanism is not yet very well elucidated however, based on recent literature the authors suggested that the elimination of AMX and AMP occurred via three different mechanisms: (ⅰ) reduction after a rupture of the β-lactam ring (ⅱ) adsorption onto iron corrosion products and (ⅲ) sequestration in the matrix of precipitating iron corrosion products.
