Environmental policy development within a European context may at times seem ungraspable, especially for newcomers in this wide-ranging field of research. Literature presenting both a comprehensive overview, as well as in-depth knowledge on the subject has, to date, been difficult to find. Such a guidebook, spiced throughout with excellent analyses of past, present and future developments is, however, provided under Andrew Jordan's editorship in Environmental Policy in the European Union: Actors, Institutions and Processes, in which the windings of European environmental policy are scrutinised thoroughly through a skilfully assembled collection of reprinted articles. In this second edition of the book Jordan makes room for more detailed explorations of the developments in European environmental policy in theory as well as practice, while leaving the most basic background information on the general functioning of the European Union aside.
