Coal ash surfaces in transportation bill

Rep. David B. McKinley (R-WV) has attached a rider to the House version of a major transportation bill that would prohibit the EPA from regulating coal ash from power plants by transferring the authority to do so to the states. The transportation bill would fund and maintain U.S. highways, mass transportation, and about 3 million jobs. House and Senate conferees are currently attempting to resolve differences in the two versions.
