Texas State Audit Act amended

Texas has amended its Audit Act to address audits conducted before the acquisition of a facility or operation. The act helps businesses that voluntarily identify and promptly resolve unintentional violations of environmental or safety and health regulations without fear of costly fines. The Audit Act was amended to include a notification of acquisition audit. According to the act, any person who begins an audit before purchasing a facility or operation may continue the audit after the acquisition closing date provided an NOI to continue the ongoing audit is submitted to the TCEQ within 45 days of the acquisition closing date.
