Pesticide exposures, cholinesterase levels and symptoms among farmers

The aim of this study is to determine the effect of pesticide exposure, cholinesterase level and symptoms among farmworkers in an Arabian Gulf Country, United Arab Emirates (UAE). This case-control study consisted of 87 farmworkers (cases) and 87 nonfarmworkers (controls), matched for age, sex and Nationality, and selected form al-Ain city. The mean age of 87 farmers was 32.7±8.2 years and the mean duration of their employment was 7.7±0.6 years. The Mean age of 87 nonfarmers (control group) was 34.6±9.6 years and their mean duration of employment was 6.9±0.8 years.
