One of the complaints from the industry is that other parts of the world are increasingly using storage as part of the energy mix and stealing a march on commercial opportunities: 1.China's current five-year plan for wind envisages 25GW of storage; 2.Germany gives subsidies of 30% for storage associated with solar photovoltaics; 3.Italy will have 75MW of batteries in its transmission and distribution system next year; and 4.Japan is paying homeowners and companies up to two-thirds of the cost for solar and storage combinations.
