The energy storage industry feels a bit picked on. Though these things come and go, most of the non-fossil fuel energy options - the alternatives - have at some stage or another received official backing and even some subsidy towards the twin aims of sustainable power sources and lower carbon options. "But we haven't even set out a strategy for energy storage in the UK," says Anthony Price, director of the Electricity Storage Network, an industry association cum pressure group for the sector. Price was speaking last month at the launch at the House of Commons of a brief report co-ordinated by his group that calls for government action on storage.
