Dial is a UK facility, but the earlier truck has had a global career. Among its worldwide credits have been spotting a solution to an air quality problem in Texas, where certified emission levels from refining companies added up to a total much smaller than the local authority's readings - Dial identified the problem as incomplete combustion of flare gases. In Rotterdam, it pinpointed rogue emissions of benzene from a selection of sources, while recently the truck has been to Norway monitoring oil and gas industry emissions. "Generally everyone is very positive," says Rod Robinson, leader of the team that has devised and built Dial. "People everywhere want to know what's happening with their emissions and they want to manage them. And Dial is recognised as the best."
