The significance of 'greenspaces' and their role in outdoor learning

摘要

The significance of these issues is clear; while these and related issues of awareness of environmental sustainability, an over-cautious approach to risk and a lack of curricular learning outside the classroom are all of interest to policy-makers, the role of outdoor learning has not been made explicit. It seems to be the only current means of engaging young people in all of these significant activities in an integrated interdisciplinary manner. To be relevant to this important agenda the outdoor learning community will need to ensure they do so and if necessary re-orientate their programmes. This in turn may encourage policy makers to provide support through schools and other educational provision.
