Children love minibeasts– and so do I! As an environmentaleducationteacher, I spend a lot oftime rummaging aroundin leaf litter, lifting upold logs and sweepingabout in ponds. Whilepond dipping is not coveredin this book, thereare loads of ideas forattracting, catching andobserving land invertebrates. It shows that you don’t need expensive equipment,as all of the ideas in this book use household objectsor rubbish items that would otherwise be thrownaway. I even learnt some tips and techniques myself! Itis clear that the ideas in this book have been tried andtested, and the involvement with the Royal EntomologicalSociety (and also the Field Studies Council) lends anadditional air of authority to the book.
