Environmental industry merger & acquisition (M&A) activity reached peak levels across multiple segments in 2015, and prospects for both buyers and sellers look good into 2016 and beyond. Many segments of the industry remain relatively fragmented, and professional private investment capital has only become influential recently in environmental services. Combined with a fairly positive and stable market, owners, shareholders and investors are not wrong to be optimistic about the future of their positions in environmental firms.
