Poland appears to side with industry on REACH

Tomasz Podgajniak, secretary of state at the Polish environment ministry has said that the reining in of chemicals under the EU's draft chemicals policy cannot take precedence over the competitivenss of industry. He told a 20 January press conference that, for example, out of the 100,000 chemical substances suspected of inducing cancer, only 50 were actually proven to have a carcinogenic effect.
