Warning - chemicals agency budget will not be enough

The future European Chemicals Agency could find itself under rinancial pressure if the proposed ?30 million budget is not increased to cover the tasks that have been added to its planned workload during the legislative process. That was the warning to emerge from a meeting held by the Finnish Chemical Industry in Helsinki earlier this month, where the focus was the draft regulation to register, evaluate, authorise and restrict chemicals (REACH), including the agency.
