REACH regulation enters the legislative home straight

The proposed regulation to register, evaluate and authorise chemicals (REACH) is getting closer to adoption with the European Parliament expected to hand down its second reading opinion in early autumn. Parliament and the Council are close together on certain issues such as data requirements but sparks are still likely to fly over substitution and authorisation. The Council still has to adopt its common position formally after December's political agreement.
