Socialist MEPs have hit out at the centre-right European People's Party (EPP) for voting down planned reduction targets for pesticides on 23 October in the European Parliament's Strasbourg plenary.rnThe Socialists accuse the EPP of "yielding to pressure from the pesticides industry" in rejecting plans for a 20 per cent cut in pesticide use over 10 years. Danish Socialist Dan Jorgensen said in a group statement: "The voting behaviour of the centre right was absolutely disgraceful. I was shocked that they put the interests of the agro-chemical industry ahead of people's health and the environment."
